Neighborhood Security Update
Your 2025 LHHA Board needed to make some tough decisions this year due to the increasing tourism and lack of financial support from our city leaders. Approximately 90% of the balance in our treasury has come from various filming that has taken place throughout our neighborhood over the years, generating between $8,000 – $15,000 annually. This revenue has afforded us the opportunity to cover security costs, keep our community first aid stations stocked with supplies, emergency radio communication with first responders connected to LAFD and LAPD bandwidth, hosting emergency preparedness events, and funded our annual block parties and holiday events.
This source of revenue from filming has diminished and we realize that the annual community activities are going to have to take a back seat to our safety and security needs. Since January 1, 2025 we attempted to secure funds to provide ongoing weekend nighttime security; however, we regret to announce that our treasury can no longer continue to support these security efforts. Nonetheless, we are currently able to afford private security on holiday weekends and when needed during weather events or emergencies.
We reviewed the number of households that support the community through membership dues, emergency disaster preparedness funding and weekend nighttime security, and we determined less than 40% of our homeowners voluntarily participate in keeping the treasury funded.
Should the level of contributions change we will immediately resume our private security presence.
